House 4
Home and roots
The fourth house, linked to the Imum Coeli, describes your home, your family and your roots. It speaks of where you recharge, of your childhood and of what grounds you inside.
The fourth house is the base of the chart, quite literally: it sits at the very bottom of the wheel. It covers the home you live in, the one you grew up in, your family line, often one of your parents, and the private sense of being at home. Planets in the fourth house make private life especially important. The Moon there strengthens the need for a nest; Uranus can describe an eventful childhood or frequent moves; Saturn a home where you had to grow up fast. An empty fourth house doesn’t mean an absent home, only that the energy of your chart is focused elsewhere. The sign on its cusp and its ruling planet then describe how you make yourself at home in the world.
