Saturn

In a birth chart, Saturn represents structure, responsibility and maturity. It shows where you meet limits, where effort is required, and where, over time, you build your most solid achievements.

For ancient skywatchers, Saturn was the most distant planet visible to the naked eye, the edge of the known sky. Astrology made it the guardian of limits. It takes about twenty-nine and a half years to circle the zodiac and spends around two and a half years in each sign. In a chart, it describes your fears and duties, but also your backbone: what you learn slowly, often through trial and error, and end up mastering better than anyone. Tradition called it the "greater malefic"; most astrologers today see it rather as a demanding teacher. Saturn’s sign gives your lesson its shape; the house it occupies sets the stage where it plays out. Its return to its birth position, around twenty-nine and again around fifty-nine, often marks a time of taking stock: sorting what you inherited from what you chose.
