Neptune

In a birth chart, Neptune represents imagination, ideals and sensitivity. It shows where you dream, where you find inspiration, where you feel beyond words, and also where you can be lulled by illusion.

Neptune can’t be seen with the naked eye, and it was calculation that led to its discovery as a planet: a world inferred before it was recognized, which suits the planet of the unseen. It takes about a hundred and sixty-five years to circle the zodiac and stays around fourteen years in each sign, so its sign describes the dreams of a generation. In your chart, its house and aspects show where that dream is lived personally. Neptune governs artistic inspiration, music, spirituality, compassion, intuition. It’s also the planet of blur: where it sits, outlines soften, you idealize, and you sometimes misread people or situations. The point isn’t to distrust it but to learn to tell a vision from a mirage. Lived well, Neptune gives you the ability to reach others through art, listening or care, and to believe in something larger than yourself.
