Jupiter
In a birth chart, Jupiter represents growth, confidence and meaning. It shows where you expand most easily, where luck seems to smile on you, and where you’re liable to overdo things a little.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system, and astrology gave it a role to match: expansion. It takes about twelve years to circle the zodiac, so it spends roughly a year in each sign. In a chart, it describes the way you grow, inwardly and outwardly: learning, traveling, believing, teaching, prospering. It shows where you feel naturally confident and where opportunities seem to come more easily. Tradition called it the "greater benefic," but Jupiter amplifies everything, excess included: promising too much, spending too much, trusting too readily that it will all work out. Its sign describes your style of generosity and faith, its house the area where you think big. Its return to its birth position, roughly every twelve years, is often experienced as a time of opening up.
